Exchange tomorrow

In UK for a few days. Only me... Exchanging tomorrow - viewed the cottage today and it is just perfect.

In excellent condition throughout and all searches and questions ticked. We are at the bottom of a lane overlooking fields. Peaceful although a brisk five minute walk to the village.

Rooms just right for us, one bedroom, spare (dressing room I reckon) roomy bathroom upstairs. All with nice windows. Loads of shelves in the spare room for our books.

Stairs quaint. Not dangerous. Beams. Lovely tiled kitchen floor with bright white cupboards around. Kitchen window overlooks the garden (over sink) and the studio. Studio has beams too and a load of space for writing.

Everything was clean and nothing at all to be done, except perhaps build a porch for the dog, to be cleaned from the fields and common... Enclosed garden of good size for her too.

We complete on the 16th April so looking to come back end of April to live. Might be May though, all depending on how much it will be to keep Valentina in kennels in Spain. She will be flown back by Monarch by a friend and we will be at Gatwick to meet her middle July.

It seems to have happened very quickly, but hey, we have been waiting for two years and as Damien said yesterday - if we had sold then we would only have got about £150,000 for the money with the exchange rate being so bad back then.

I think we have sent too much stuff back. Anne and Kevin have been in touch and she said 'bin it' as they have a new place built on the side of their daughter's house and all the stuff from Menorca smelled mouldy and was too old for her new furnishings. We have sold nearly everything and mostly books and bed linen coming over, clothes too of course and pictures. The furniture - only marble topped bedside cupboards and a table to match.

Off to solicitor tomorrow to make sure all papers OK. Then a wait. We are not letting it by the way to the old owners. No way Jose.

Keep you posted.

Going back via Heathrow to Palma then a hop over to Mahon on Thursday.
